Oncologist-approved cancer information from the American Society of Clinical Oncology

Champions Against Cancer

The American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) Champions Against Cancer initiative uses sports-oriented collaborations and platforms to educate and empower people about cancer and their health. This initiative supports a key ASCO goal—to provide credible and timely cancer information to both physicians and patients so they can make informed decisions about cancer prevention and treatment. Through Champions Against Cancer, ASCO raises awareness about cancer and reaches new audiences with oncologist-approved information from Cancer.Net.

Kaleidoscope: Hosted by ice skating legends Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill, this holiday event features athletic and musical performances, while raising awareness about cancer and survivorship. Cancer.Net is the official clinical cancer information resource for the event.

Yankees Radio Network: ASCO and Yankees Radio worked together to raise awareness of cancer and Cancer.Net through the radio network’s annual event in New York City and broadcasts of the Major League Baseball’s Yankees games.

Atlantic Coast Conference: ASCO teamed up with the ACC to highlight cancer awareness during the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.

ON THE LINE: This health education initiative challenges men to get off the sideline and take charge of their health, beginning with prostate cancer awareness. Through ON THE LINE, athletes, sports commentators, celebrities, and legendary coaches all play a role in raising awareness about prostate cancer as a critical men’s health issue. ASCO’s prostate cancer expert panel provided the core clinical information, which serves as the basis for the campaign content.

U.S. Figure Skating: ASCO and Cancer.Net have been official sponsors of U.S. Figure Skating and its premier skating competitions. This partnership provided a global platform for past champions— Scott Hamilton, Peggy Fleming, and Dorothy Hamill—and current skaters to share stories about their personal experience with cancer.

Frosted Pink With A Twist: ASCO and Cancer.Net joined forces with five other national cancer organizations in a television event and multimedia education campaign—Frosted Pink with a Twist—that focused on educating viewers about cancers that primarily affect women, such as cervical, endometrial, ovarian, vaginal, and vulvar cancers.
